Hiriketiya is a horseshoe bay on the south coast that remained largely unknown until recently – its bowl-shaped geometry creates a microclimate of calm, consistent surf conditions that have attracted a quiet community of surfers, yoga practitioners and slow travellers. The bay’s small scale and complete absence of commercial hotel development gives it a quality that the more popular southern beaches surrendered years ago.
